See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

Okay folks, I’m going to need everyone who’s ever read Red White & Royal Blue to send me a message so we can be totally normal about it together (read as: shriek, discuss theories, happy stim, cry, etc)

Especially if you’ve read the chapter from Henry’s POV because this has been my favourite book since 2020 and the bonus chapter gave them the perfect ending.

If RWRB restored my faith in my generation’s ability to make a positive change in the world and my own life decisions, the bonus chapter restored my faith that the personal part of my life will work out - I will find my person, and I will get my happy ending in the home and life that’s perfect for us.

So here’s to the history we’ll make. ❤️

This is not like a fully completed thought but yk

So I've done my first aid + CPR a few times. And every single time I try and bring up scenarios for fat folks

Specifically like 'what if someone is too large for me to wrap my arms around then to do the heimleich'

And its incredibly rare I get a decent answer.

How absolutely insane is it that me, as a fat person, is asking how to have MY life saved or to save ANOTHER life, is an impossible feat if someone is fat.

Most of the time they tell me to 'just try anyways uwu'

There has got to be a better option.

From a first aid and CPR trainer, who is also fat.

The heimleich is scientifically as effective as slapping someone VERY hard on the back. The only reason it's so well taught is the man that invented it did a lot of great PR for himself. It's also a bit easier for smaller framed people to get the necessary force in, because people are often extremely scared to hurt people, even in life threatening situations.

With larger bodied people, whether they be fat, tall, muscular, etc. If you cannot get your arms around them, literally just slap the shit out of their shoulders. You want hard, open palmed slaps right in the center of the shoulders or slightly below.

If they are too tall for you to reach that high, guide them to lean over the back of a chair, and then slap slap slap slap slap.

It's been proven to be just as effective through many studies. It just doesn't have a trademarked name and a dramatic effect in film.

If you have to do CPR on a larger bodied person, again, fat, body builder, tall and broad, whoever, the trick to finding where you want to put your hands if going to be to take your hand and shove it in their armpit. No seriously. Put your hand in their armpit, then drag it in a straight line towards yourself until you're in the center of the chest, then put your other hand beneath that one. This is where you push. Then you are going to move the arm closest to you out of the way so you can get closer to them, and get the leverage you need to press down for compressions. The more of your body weight that is over your hands, the better the compression will be. Act like you are trying desperately to pack the last of your clothes in a suitcase, and just slam down hard on their chest.

They will make *horrible* noises. You might even break ribs.

But a broken rib is better than being dead.

One day, perhaps, other CPR and First Aid instructors will actually know and teach this shit. But the medical field is filled with people who don't know, don't care, or just outright hate fat people. So while this information won't fix your complaint, I do hope it helps someone out there with saving their loved ones, should it ever be needed.

So I found out a few months ago that wanting to ‘not exist’ or wishing you could ‘just sleep forever’ is also considered suicidal (specifically suicidal idealization). It shocked me cause I used to think that way when I was younger but had previously thought that being suicidal meant explicitly wanting to die.. but it actually involves wanting to not live too.

I think its an important thing to note cause it might allow someone to realize the severity of their condition earlier.

gork-le

This was the funniest thing to me. Because I was talking to a counselor, and they were like “Are you suicidal?”

“No not really. But sometimes I don’t want to exist though”

“You do know that’s suicidal ideation?”

“…what?”

I wish I kind of knew before. Like honestly, we know so little about mental health.

Same goes for wanting to run away, I had this urge for the longest time, to just leave, I thought it was because I was looking for thrill or something but after a few dozen times of googling “why do I want to run away so badly?” And “is it normal to want to run away?” I found out that that’s also a symptom of depression and suicidal idealization, obviously not as strong but definetly also a part that’s not talked about a lot

Hey, this goes for the “I just wish time would stop for a while.” too.

A rare form, but those who desire the entire world enter a stasis-like state so they can have the time and escape they need is still a part of the desire to escape at any cost.

There are many forms of suicidal idealization, not all involve active, or even passive suicide.

If you spend a lot of time thinking of ways to escape, possible or impossible, consider speaking to a good therapist whom you connect with.

Gee, I thought these people were the ones who were like “If you don’t like it, you can just move to a blue state.”

And now they’re mad the guy is doing just that?

You can’t oppress and discriminate against someone then be mad when they take their highly useful skill elsewhere.

“You are all awful woke pedos who should be stoned to death and cast into perdition… oh except you doctor. We need you to fix Karen’s daughter Ashleigh’s VSD. Then you can be stoned and cast into perdition.”

Anyone who thinks this doctor is trying to make some political point rather than moving somewhere he feels safe and accepted is a smooth brain. It is akin to blaming a Jewish doctor for leaving Germany in the early 1930s because his patients will suffer.

You (conservative red voters) don’t get to use people as punching bags then make it their fault others suffer when they leave. You did that. Your shitty politicians that you elected (because you support their shitty views) are focusing on making queer people’s lives miserable rather than shit like holding oil and gas companies responsible for capping their profit machine deep water oil wells or other sensible shit (improving education, infrastructure, etc…).

You caused this guy to make the difficult choice to leave. Your voting did this. Stop insisting queer people deserve to suffer if you want us to stick around. Stop insisting you are better off without us then demanding we stay because you need us to save your kid.

"Don't like it? Leave."

"Fine. I'll leave."

"How dare you!"
